The object of this book is to allow you to prepare for a walk in the mountains along beautiful, picturesque and hidden paths,

Easily accessible by road and near to the airports of Pau and Lourdes, the Val d'Azun is often called the Eden of the Pyrenees; its green and verdant valleys shelter numerous mines.

On foot and by mountain bike, this publication offers you a departure for adventure in the footsteps of the ancient miners. Sometimes beside roads, often high in the mountains, it will lead you in an by little known byways to these picturesque locations.

Hikers and walkers can discover the outside of these historical sites. They can also find the coordinates of qualified guides who can lead them safely underground. Cavers can contact the Tarbes GSHP to obtain the plans and topographical maps necessary to explore these sites.
